1.01 - Everything Changes

GWEN COOPER: You brought him back to life.
JACK: Yeah.
GWEN COOPER: Who are you?
JACK: Torchwood.

GWEN COOPER: I'm getting tired of following you.
JACK: No you're not, and you never will.

GWEN COOPER: But, hold on, if no-one can see it when the lift's coming up, there's a bloody big hole in the floor, don't people fall in?
JACK: That is so Welsh.
GWEN COOPER: What is?
JACK: I show you something fantastic - you find fault.

GWEN COOPER: The thing is, I just don't understand ...
JACK: No, I tell you what I don't understand. You're gonna rattle on with that, "How can this be true?" kinda shtick. What's it gonna take for you people? If you want evidence of aliens, how about that great spaceship hovering over London on Christmas Day? What about the battle of Canary Wharf? A Cyberman in every home!
GWEN COOPER: My boyfriend says it's like a sort of terrorism. Like they put drugs in the water supplies - psychotropic drugs, causing mass hallucinations and stuff.
JACK: Yeah, well your boyfriend's stupid.
GWEN COOPER: Oh, you've met him?

GWEN COOPER: Well, that's tough shit. Cos if you let me go, then I have a duty, I can tell them what you’ve got cos that glove could help us.
JACK: If you remember.
GWEN COOPER: What d'you mean?
JACK: How's your drink?
GWEN COOPER: Have you poisoned me?
JACK: Don't be so dramatic. It's an amnesia pill.

1.02 - Day One

GWEN: Is this CRIMINT. This is the police computer system. You shouldn't have this!
JACK: You might want to stop saying "you" and start saying "we".

GWEN: But aren't you going to help me? I don't know what I'm doing.
JACK: Usually better if you don't say that in front of the prisoner.

GWEN: You've been hidden down here too long. Spending so much time with the alien stuff, you've lost what it means to be human.
JACK: So remind us. Tell me what it means to be human in the 21st century.

GWEN: When I was with her in the cell, Carys told me she was losing. We have to find a way to keep her fighting, remind her to hold on to who she is.
GWEN: Have I got something on my face?
JACK: No. Uh ... Just, it's ... brilliant. You are brilliant.

GWEN: What's this for?
JACK: Need a diagram?
GWEN: I've never used a gun.
JACK: You were in the police!
GWEN: I was on the beat!
JACK: Carry it. I'll make sure you don't need to use it.

JACK: Do one thing for me. Don't let the job consume you. You have a life. Perspective. We need that.

1.03 - Ghost Machine

GWEN: I'm sorry, it's just ... I don't even kill spiders in the bath.
JACK: Nor do I, not with a gun.

JACK: Let's leave the roof in one piece, shall we?

GWEN: Oh, God, look at the time. When do you get to go home? You seem to live here. You don't, do you?
JACK: Gotta be ready, the 21st century's when it all changes. And I hate to commute.
GWEN: Where do you sleep?
JACK: I don't.
GWEN: Doesn't it get lonely, at night?

1.04 - Cyberwoman

GWEN: What about a rota? Different people drive on different days.
JACK: We're a secret organization, hunting alien technology from an underground base. And you want a rota for who drives?
GWEN: Just trying to help.

GWEN: When she had hold of you, I thought, just for a moment, I thought maybe you could die after all.
JACK: Wanna know a secret? So did I. And just for a second there, I felt so ... alive.

1.05 - Small Worlds

GWEN: Anyone could have made this circle.
JACK: Why do you keep doubting me? I spell out the dangers, you keep looking for explanations.

GWEN: It wasn't your dad that was in love with her all those years ago, was it? It was you.
JACK: We once made a vow. That we'd be with each other till we died.
